1. Canary Island Date Palm

The #1 choice for Victoria. Majestic scale, architectural form, frost-hardy, drought-tolerant once established. Suits all Melbourne suburbs, Mornington Peninsula, Geelong, and protected inland sites. Our most popular species by far.

2. Windmill Palm (Trachycarpus fortunei)

Extraordinary cold tolerance, compact size (6–8m ultimate height), and an interesting hairy trunk texture. Perfect for Ballarat, Bendigo, the Dandenong Ranges, and gardens where Canary palms would be too large. Very low maintenance.

3. Chinese Fan Palm (Livistona chinensis)

Graceful, wide, drooping fronds with a refined appearance. Suits sheltered urban gardens and coastal locations. Slower-growing but long-lived. Best in protected positions away from frost.

4. Date Palm (Phoenix dactylifera)

A stately, slender alternative to the Canary palm with more upright fronds and a cleaner trunk. Hardy, long-lived, and suited to a more formal or Middle Eastern garden aesthetic.

5. Dwarf Sugar Palm (Arenga engleri)
